SZCZESNY – EVA BEFORE MIMOSAS (PAPER)

silk screen on paper / 120 copies / 2000

Description
This screen print forms part of a series of prints which Stefan Szczesny produced in 2000 and which takes as its reference point and inspiration the island of Mallorca. This particular choice is owed to the artist’s predilection for the Mediterranean in general and a particular fondness of Spanish culture. Another specimen of Stefan Szczesny’s series of female portraits, ‘Eva’ shows a female head that becomes almost transparent against the background of water, mountain and mimosa branches. The image suggests a continuity between nature and (wo)man, which is an important key to Stefan Szczesny’s work in general.
