Description
This screen print forms part of a series of large-format prints which Stefan Szczesny produced in 1999, in collaboration with the renowned Jaffa/Israel-based printer Har-El. These prints remain unique in Szczesny’s print oeuvre: in their imposing dimensions, they bring out particularly well the vividness and intensity of Szczesny’s colours and brushstrokes. ‘Eva with mimosa’ belongs to Stefan Szczesny’s series of female portraits, which has occupied a central place in his work since the mid-90s. The bright mimosa in the background is a reference to Szczesny’s preferred region, the French Côte d’Azur.
