Description
This screen print forms part of a series of large-format prints which Stefan Szczesny produced in 1999, in collaboration with the renowned Jaffa/Israel-based printer Har-El. These prints remain unique in Szczesny’s print oeuvre: in their imposing dimensions, they bring out particularly well the vividness and intensity of Szczesny colours and brushstrokes. ‘Flowers on stripes’ echoes Stefan Szczesny’s series of paintings entitled ‘Streifenbilder’ (striped paintings). A vase depicting a dancing female nude holds a bouquet of red and orange flowers. Both the female figure and the bright flowers stand for a life of vitality and plenty.
