By creating the screen print “Houses, Palmtrees, Pools – Mallorca Suite” Stefan Szczesny has been inspired by the island Mallorca. This particular choice is owed to the artist’s predilection for the Mediterranean in general and a particular fondness of Spanish culture. ‘Houses, palm trees, pools’ depicts what the title indicates: picturesque Mallorcan cottages surrounded by palms and pools of water. Large amphorae point towards the Greco-Roman roots of the culture. Using earthy colours, Stefan Szczesny captures a scene of serene Mediterranean tranquillity.
