SZCZESNY – NUDE ON RED STRIPES (PAPER)

Description

This screen print forms part of a series of large-format prints which Stefan Szczesny produced in 1999, in collaboration with the renowned Jaffa/Israel-based printer Har-El. These prints remain unique in Szczesny’s print oeuvre: in their imposing dimensions, they bring out particularly well the vividness and intensity of Szczesny’s colours and brushstrokes. ‘Nude on red stripes’ echoes Stefan Szczesny’s series of paintings entitled ‘Streifenbilder’ (striped paintings). A female nude is depicted in a kneeling pose on the beach. Fishes and plants framing the figure underscore the theme of vitality and growth.
