Description
Stefan Szczesny is widely known as a painter. This book illustrates a different aspect of this prodigiously creative and productive artist: his sculptures and ceramics. The focus is in particular on the latter. Comparable in its range to Picasso’s, Szczesny’s ceramic oeuvre is the result of a longstanding collaboration with the renowned ceramicist Peter Thumm. Originally conceived as the catalogue accompanying a 1997 exhibition at Gerhard-Marcks-Haus, Bremen, the book offers great insights into an aspect of Szczesny’s creative output where his dynamic forms take on concrete materiality. Photos are by Udo P. Klein and Lothar Schnepf.
